Terms and conditions
Photographic identification, passport and visas
We take security very seriously. Please help us by making sure that ALL travellers aged 16 years or over have a Passport or valid National identification card for all flights. Please see acceptable forms of identification for bmibaby flights below:
Acceptable forms of ID on international flights
All passengers travelling on international services must present valid documentation for travel including a passport and valid visa where required.
We can also accept ‘the new UK national identity card issued to British citizens for travel in the EU, EEA and Switzerland’ as valid identification on the bmibaby network.
UK Domestic & UK-Republic of Ireland photographic identification
All passengers aged 16 years or over must present valid National photographic identification for all UK domestic flights and for all flights between the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Any person travelling into the Republic of Ireland who
are neither a British nor Irish citizen, must produce a valid
travel document on arrival, notably a passport or recognised
National Identity card.
bmibaby accepts all forms of photographic identification, however
passengers must ensure that all personal identification is of a
good standard. If identification appears to be fraudulent,
passengers may be refused for travel.
PLEASE NOTE: bmibaby reserves the right to refuse travel
if the passport/ID presented is not considered in a suitable
condition or shows signs of being tampered with.
Important passport information
The UK Passport Service consider a 'child' as any persons 15 years or under. If a child is included on their parent's passport then they can travel with the said parent until their 16th birthday or until the passport is replaced, whichever comes first. The passport service stopped adding children to their parent's passport on 5 October 1998, since that date all children must have their own 5 year passport, persons aged 16 years and over are issued with 10 year passports.
French and Spanish Nationals who are under the age of 18 years
bmibaby advise French or Spanish nationals who are under the age of 18 years that they will require a full valid passport to leave the country if travelling with at least one parent or on their own; a French or Spanish ID card is not an acceptable alternative. If a child does not possess a full valid passport then they will need to obtain the necessary authorisation documentation in order to travel.
