Almeria,
Sun-soaked Almeria lies in an enviable spot on the south-eastern coast of Spain. Pick up a diploma in olive oil at the Olive Oil Museum. They’re awarded to every visitor who makes their way to this delightful 19th century stately home to discover just how the humble fruit is grown and harvested. The Spanish are great connoisseurs of olive oil and probably produce and tuck into more of it than any other country in the world. There are plenty of opportunities to taste the different types on offer, and buy some to take home.

Alcazaba
Cast your gaze over the city below from the magnificent vantage point of the Alcazaba, a stunning Moorish fortress built in the 10th century by Caliph Abd-ar-Rhaman III. Perched on a hill 90 metres above Almeria and looking out toward the sea, it offers spectacular views of the city, the sea and the cave quarter, Barrio de la Chanca. Then turn around 180 degrees and explore the impressive monument, with its huge three walled enclosures. Highlights of any visit include the second compound where there are the remains of a mosque that was converted into a chapel by the Catholic Kings.

Oasys Mini-Hollywood
Saddle up and ride out to protect the town from those pesky bandits. The Oasys Mini-Hollywood theme park has a large collection of film sets and mock western towns from the many Spaghetti westerns that were once filmed in this area. The arid landscape’s rugged beauty has been a firm favourite of big-shot Hollywood directors, and provided a stunning backdrop for films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars. There are daily Wild West shows, rootin’ tootin’ gunslingers, a film museum, large swimming pool with slides, and a zoo housing more than 150 exotic species.

Almeria - (LEI)
Location
Almeria Airport is 9 kilometers to the east of the region's capital city, 500 metres from the coast on the gulf of Almeria and to the south of the Sierra Alhamilla. In the area neighbouring the airport are the towns of El Alquian and Costacabana, it has excellent connections with the other tourist destinations in the province, such as Cabo de Gata, Aguadulce, Roquetas de Mar, El Ejido or Mojácar.

Transport
By road: The airport can be reached from Almeria via the AL-12 road, which is a dual carriageway. The airport turn off is found at kilometre nine. From here, the single carriageway road continues to Níjar. There are also access roads signposted from the Autovía del Mediterráneo A-7.
By bus: The L20 Almeria picks up just outside the arrivals terminal. It runs from 07:33-22:33 and takes 50 minutes to reach the city centre.
